Smokey

Smokey is our dapper donkey who takes life at his own leisurely pace and looks absolutely stellar in any hat you put on him. This handsome guy has zero patience for sharing attention and will make sure you know he deserves all the pets and scratches — especially when his best buddy Buckwheat is getting any love nearby. After arriving lonely and needing companionship, Smokey found his groove at the sanctuary and now spends his days perfecting his slow-motion tiptoeing technique and being the most tolerant, affection-soaking donkey you'll ever meet.

Very tolerant of affection from his caretakers. Gets jealous when other animals receive attention and needs his own love and pets. Takes his time with exercise - he slowly tiptoed when they tried to get him to run post-surgery, showing a cautious and deliberate nature. Best friends with Buckwheat the donkey.

His most recent owner surrendered him to the sanctuary because he was alone and sad on their property. The owner was able to provide money for half of his gelding surgery.
