Start a colony log now.
Before trapping, spend 1-2 weeks documenting: how many individual cats you can identify (markings, ear tips, behavior), feeding times and locations, where cats shelter and sleep, and any friendly cats that might be strays vs. ferals. This log will be essential for your TNR plan.
