UPDATE on Bubbles’ Formal Mud Complaint: it has been officially logged… and addressed. 👑🐄💛

After our original post about sinking—literally—resources into these yards, you all jumped in fast. And today, those donations became real, visible, hoof-saving change.

Because of Debbie, Jenna, Karen, Tammy, Jennifer, and Eden funding 27 bags today, we were able to tackle the worst spot first: the muddy swamp around where Bubbles and Bernie eat at their hay trough.

Just yesterday, that area was so saturated that Bubbles’ precious hooves were under water. Today, she’s standing hooves-above-water on pelleted pine ground that’s already pulling moisture out of the muck and firming into comfortable, solid footing.

And this didn’t happen by magic—we put in hours of hard, muddy work to make sure those 27 bags could actually do their job: • dug drainage channels so water had somewhere to go • used muck rakes, shovels, and pitchforks to pull the worst sludge into carts • used snow shovels to push standing water into the channels • then spread the pellets and worked them in so they’d absorb the remaining moisture and become stable ground

This matters for more than comfort. Getting Bubbles out of standing water helps protect her hooves from the risks of rot and infection—the kind of issues that can become painful and serious fast.

Those same 27 bags also: ✅ solidified the landing outside the hay barn so we can get the hay cart out when it’s loaded ✅ got our piggy hooves in the special-needs area out of the water

And now—look at Bubbles. Under that cloud-streaked sky, she’s standing there like royalty on dry ground, pleased with herself, and honestly… she should be. 👑

What’s next:

To finish the trough area in a way that we won’t have to worry about again until long after they’re on the new parcel in rotational pastures, we need about 30 more bags for this section.

Good morning, Sammie! You were right…a little hay each day DOES keep the dentist away!
