Rebel, caught in a rare moment of “don’t mind me, I live here.” 🖤
She came to us from a California municipal shelter about five years ago—highly feral, fiercely independent, and still very much living up to her name. Most days you’ll spot her ranging from one corner of our main 10-acre parcel to the other, patrolling the high edges for rodents, or melting into her favorite shade under the pistachio trees.
But every night, Rebel returns to Grandpa’s front porch and claims her wicker perch like it’s the safest lookout in the world. This morning she slept in and got caught on camera looking cute as can be—proof that even the wildest hearts deserve soft places to land.
She’s decidedly uninterested in people (please do not perceive her 😅), but she will allorub with just about anything else: fellow ferals, pot belly pigs, chair legs… whoever or whatever happens to be nearby. Here, she gets to be exactly who she is—wild, watchful, and free—surrounded by the smells of every animal you can imagine, with quiet, safe places to retreat when her not-so-wild side needs a little respite.
