Meet McGregor, our once-feral ginger warrior, now the beloved cat of two worlds.
He still refuses to step inside the house…no matter how cozy we make it…but every single day he waits patiently (or not so patiently) for his scratches, purring like he’s known us forever.
We nicknamed him Angry Orange back when he’d hiss and growl at the sight of us, even when we were just quietly refilling the feeders or swapping out the towels in the outdoor cubbies.
Those early months were a standoff… him claiming the yard as his kingdom, us trying not to take it personally.
Then, after about six patient months, something shifted.
He decided we weren’t so bad after all. The hisses turned to slow blinks, the growls to soft chirps when we approached.
One of his sweetest quirks is that he never naps in the same spot twice. Today’s chosen throne is the sun-warmed dashboard of our broken-down utility vehicle, stretched out like he owns the place (and honestly, he kind of does).
Watching this tough little soul learn to trust us has been one of the quiet joys of sanctuary life.
He may never be a house cat, but he’s ours, and we’re his. ❤️🐱
