Happy National Zipper Day! 🤐

You probably didn't know this was a thing (honestly, neither did we until this morning). But lucky for all of us, we happen to have a resident named Zipper whose story is absolutely worth celebrating today.

When Zipper first arrived at the sanctuary, she was a shadow of herself — scared, underweight, and carrying the weight of whatever came before. Rescue animals often arrive with their zippers pulled tight, guarding themselves against a world that hasn't always been kind.

But here's the thing about sanctuaries: they're safe spaces where zippers can slowly, gently come undone.

Today, Zipper is pure joy in motion. She greets each morning like it's Christmas, bounces through the pasture like gravity is optional, and has appointed herself the unofficial welcoming committee for every new arrival. Her transformation reminds us why we do this work — not just to save animals, but to watch them remember who they were always meant to be.

Some days the barn feels heavy with the weight of all the stories that walk through our gates. But then Zipper prances by, living proof that healing isn't just possible — it's inevitable when love shows up consistently.

From all of us here in the high desert — where Zipper just zoomed past the window chasing absolutely nothing, and somehow making it look like the most important thing in the world.
