Kroo’s Story

Kroo is our two-legged wonder who skip-steps through the sanctuary like she owns the place—which, let's be honest, she absolutely does. Born without radial bones in her front legs, she's adapted to life as a goat kangaroo with the kind of fierce determination that puts most of us to shame, head-butting goats twice her size and claiming the best sunbathing spots with zero apologies. This little powerhouse arrived as a tiny newborn from overwhelmed homesteaders who knew she deserved better than a world that only values animals for what they produce, and she's been proving them right every single day since.

Kroo’s Personality

Kroo is a fighter at heart—determined, spirited, and full of life. She doesn't see herself as "different"; she owns the sanctuary with her bold two-legged stance, stealing prime sunbathing spots, head-butting even the biggest goats with kung fu flair, and skip-stepping around like she rules the place. Her soft cries in those early days turned into a confident presence that inspires everyone around her. She's a testament to resilience and joy, reminding us that every animal deserves a chance to thrive on their own terms.

How Kroo Got Here

Kroo was born on a backyard homestead farm during the 2020 homesteading boom. Her breeders, inexperienced but well-intentioned, called us when she was born without radial bones in her front legs, making her unable to stand or walk normally. They asked if we'd take her to give her a chance. We agreed, and initially requested her mother stay temporarily for colostrum and milk. Two days later, concerned about genetic risks, they offered the mother permanently. We welcomed both, saving two lives from a system that values animals based on productivity.

About Kroo

Kroo is a resilient goat with a unique build: she lacks radial bones in her front legs, causing them to curl uselessly beneath her. Instead of four legs, she navigates on her two strong hind legs, hopping and skitter-stepping like a lopsided kangaroo. She's adapted remarkably, no longer needing her custom wheelie cart. Her body is compact and determined, perfect for leaning, scooting, and claiming her space in the yard.
